Dr. Kevin Phillip Johnson is a composer, arranger, and educator whose choral works are performed by ensembles across the country. His writing is deeply rooted in the Black sacred music tradition — spirituals, gospel, and anthem — while remaining immediately singable and relevant for today's ensemble.

He served as Director of Choral Activities at Spelman College, where his arrangements were performed by the celebrated Spelman College Glee Club. His published works span SSA, SATB, and treble voice settings, and his catalog includes titles published through Carl Fischer Music and his own Lion and Lamb Publishing imprint.

Dr. Johnson holds advanced degrees in choral conducting and music education, and has been recognized for his commitment to preserving and extending the African American choral tradition through accessible, performable repertoire.
